Second Product from Epson Toyocom a Result of Synergies
- TOKYO, Japan, October 4, 2005 -
Epson Toyocom Corporation has developed the "FA-128," a super-small AT crystal unit characterized by microprocessing and mounting technologies.
Despite its super-small size of 2.0 x 1.6mm, the FA-128 offers a low CI value and high stability equivalent to those of 2.5 x 2.0mm products (see Fig. 1). This performance is the result of crystal microprocessing and high-precision mounting technologies excelled in respectively by Toyo Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. and its partner, the quartz device business of Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson").
Major applications are expected to be cell phones and other small mobile devices such as digital still cameras, digital video cameras and PDAs. Volume production will begin in November 2005.

Glossary
CI value: Abbreviation of Crystal Impedance. This corresponds to the vibration loss where there is equivalent resistance within the crystal unit. This is a measure of how easily a product oscillates. It is also called series resistance.
