Epson Toyocom Announces Addition to its Lineup of Real-time Clock Modules with Support for High-Speed Serial Interfaces

Epson Toyocom Corporation has added the RA-4565SA with support for high-speed serial interfaces to its lineup of real-time clock modules(*1) that can operate in high-temperature environments, in vehicular applications and industrial machinery.
Samples will begin shipping in August 2007.

To the RA-8565SA, a product already on the market with I2C-BUS(*2) interface, featuring superior characteristics including high temperature (+125°C) warranty and high reliability, the RA-4565SA adds a 4-line serial interface for faster communication. This enables users to select a real-time clock module for high temperature environments that matches their interface specification.

(*1) Real-Time Clock Modules
A product in which an IC with a real-time clock function and a 32,768 Hz crystal unit are packaged in a single unit. It is used in electronic equipment such as computers and fax machines where time management is required. It offers the benefit of eliminating the need for oscillator circuit and clock precision design, as well as improving the space efficiency of the circuit board.

(*2) I2C-BUS is a trademark of Philips Electronics N.V.
